Similar to the adult parade krewes, the Teen Council Royal Court will be selected and crowned. Teens will have the opportunity to be introduced to a formal atmosphere and an event they can enjoy during the Mardi Gras season other than parades. Formal attire is required, and NORD has collected lightly worn formal dresses, suits and shoes for teens who need them. Complimentary appetizers and refreshments will be available. NORD staff, volunteers and security will be in attendance.

Teen Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball Tickets, Fri, Feb 7, at PM | Eventbrite
My wife and I along with our 3 girls, ages 15,14,and 11 are cruising out of Mobile Al. I am looking for suggestions on where to stay and what to do for a couple of days in New Orleans. I would love to experience the parades and festivities but I am concerned about the safety of the kids. Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.

NORD and Chevron Present the 5th Annual Teen Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball
Come and celebrate the carnival season with us! Live music performances, photo booth, live DJ, food, drinks, the crowning of the teen king and queen of carnival, and New Orleans secondline. This is the event you do not want to miss.

I am thinking of visiting New Orleans with my 13 year old, arriving on the 12th Feb. I've read that it's not advisable to stay in the French Quarter as it may be too 'adult'. Where would be the best and safest area to stay? But the portion of the French Quarter between Royal Street and the River remains pretty family friendly and is very conveniently located with respect to the most popular attractions. The portion of the Central Business District located less than three blocks from the French Quarter is also family friendly and relatively conveniently located.
